Day two of the surf trip.

Alooha,
Well it's now day two if the Blanco's surf trip. It started with a drive to the east side. Once there things didn't look that great for the kids. So we had to make decision where to go to next. And here we are at old fateful "Kewalos". It's about 1-2 feet and ripable. Well that's what Devin, Nicole, and Tia are doing, ripping it.
After this session, we need to stop and get some ding repair stuff to fix some boards. Then to top it off, we will hit another late session at hau bush.
What can I say... Another fun filled day with the Blanco's. Chee hooo!!!

Hanging with the Blanco's

This is day one of the Blanco's vacation. We are at pyramid rock and it's firing (4-6 feet Hawaiian). Jordan and Simon are out there battling the conditions. Hopefully they get a couple of waves. Devin, Nicole, and Tia decided to sit this session out. That was a good decision on their part.
I don't know what up with this weather (lots of rain) right now but it really sucks. We need the rain but this is getting carried away.
Well people you have a great day!!!

Here's the scoops from this weekend.

Aloha Gang...
Well first of all the HSA surf contest was cancelled due to lack of waves and the weather. I have mix feeling about the contest being cancelled.  Devin doesn't get to compete and surf. But I get to do things around the new house. The house part can go either way. Hahaha... Good news, we are almost at a point where we can call our new place "Home". And I cant wait for that to happen.

In between taking the kids surfing(very rare) and house work, we made our way to "Blue Hawaii Surf" Pearl Ridge to meet our friend Joel and the rest of Hurley Surf team. It was great event...Hurley and Blue Hawaii provided free stickers, posters, and hats. what a great way to start my Christmas shopping. Just kidding. If you do get a Hurley hat from me, I bought it. hahaha.

Also the Blancos are trying to fly home today. but we need to see if they get out. Hopefully they do!!! Once they finally get here, the surf sessions for two weeks is on.

Well gang that about it for now. Will keep you posted.

Busy Weekend

Aloha...
It was one of those weekends where there wasn't enough time to complete everything that I wanted to do. But for the most part, I did get one major task complete. I finished building the surf rack for the garage. All the boards are out of the way and now we have room to park our cars.
Also had an unscheduled tasking of replacing the alternator on our beach truck on Sunday. But I can say the beach truck is good to go.

I want to thank Kaz for picking up Nicole and Devin to take them surfing. I was able to scratch that off my saturday to do list. Thanks again!!!

Want to also thank Arron from red dragon photography for the photo shoot this weekend. Looking forward to see how they turn out. Mahalo!!!

Well gang that's it for now. I will keep you update on the the haps ( surf contest, blanco' arrival, and what ever else) for this weekend.

Mahalo,
Karl B

Something Different...Skating!!!

Aloha...
I am back after a week of moving into our new house. Devin got to surf a few times this past week up at north shore and our spot Hau bush. So today he decided to skate. Here we are at the Hickam hanger skating. Well he is and I'm watching.
Before we hit the skate park, we were at the Air National Guard family day event. Where there was a lot of food to be consumed. I can say I had my share. Hahaha
This has been a busy day so far. Not sure if we will make it to the north shore for the RVCA BBQ and volcom skate demo. But we will see how things goes after Devins skate session.
Till that decision is made. Alooha!!!

Birthday Vans

Mahalo to Uncle Rod of Blue Hawaii for the sick pair vans. Now I Have a pair of dress shoes.

Blue Hawaii surf "vans"

Peeps...
Need to make your way down to blue hawaii pearl ridge and check out the vans build out. In my opinion it's off the wall sick.
That answers the question what I do when we don't surf...Go shopping.

What to do when not surfing?

Aloha,
Here's a question for the ages, What is one to do on a day off from surfing? Clean the yard, go shopping, do a BBQ, hang with family, watch football, or just chill. There are so many choices to choose from. I'm leaning towards just chilling, but I need to see what the better half has in store for me...Hahaha.
But If you have any other suggestions just post it the comments.

Looking forward to what you recommend.

Till then aloha and I will keep you posted.

Surf with nobody out!!!

Another day at hau bush with nobody out. Nicole said it's a little small at two feet cant we go somewhere else. I had to laugh. On the other hand Devin said it's perfect for training. That's the right mindset and the added bonus I don't need to drive far from home. So I decided to stay at the home break today. Nicole maybe tomorrow we can go somewhere bigger. So until then get your training on with devin out there. Chee hooo!!!
Till tomorrow aloha.

North Shore Today

Aloha from the North Shore of Oahu,
This is a picture from where I was planted taking pictures of Nicole and Devin surfing Chuns. It was about 2-4 feet with some 5 or 6 footers rolling through and cleaned everybody out. I got to laugh about it because I'm on the beach watching. But it looked like the kids were having a great time.
Paused to video tape some more. hahahha
I'm back...The swell that they said was coming in late Sunday afternoon started to come in. The kids decided to come in as the swell was getting a little more consistence at 5-6 feet. There was definitely a lot of water moving out there. So I think the Nicole and Devin made the right choice to come in.
But we weren't done yet, because there was still daylight still to burn. We decided to head home to our old fateful surf spot hau bush.
So we made the trip to hau bush after a quick bite at everybody's favorite healthy fast food place "McDonald's".  Once at Hau Bush, the kids were like "really Dad". It small a bit smaller than the North Shore.  Nah a lot smaller, but hey at least it was ridable 2 foot waves. So after watching the waves for a few more minutes they decided to go out. But guess what they enjoyed it even if it was small. so it goes to show your worst day of surfing is always better then your best day at work. words to live by.

Hopefully I got some good video of the kids today. I already working on each of their videos that will be posted on their blogs (dbrue.blogspot.com and nicolebrue.blogspot.com). so check out their blogs form time to time or just follow them to get the updates.

That was our day in a nutshell. So with that said, till next time keep the stoke going and alooha...

Another great weekend

Aloha,
As I write this, we are on hawaiian airlines flying back home after a great weekend on the Big Island. Things turned out great for devin on this trip. As you know he competed in the NSSA at Banyans this weekend. He surfed in four divisions and he made three finals and just missed the fourth one by one position. In the finals he place 1st in the open mini groms, 3rd in the explorer super mini grom and 5th in the explorer menehune. That was his first win in NSSA. So stoke for him. Congratulations Devin boy!!! We are very proud of you.

Open Mini Grom finalist
Devin with Da Poke Shack bradas after his win.

On this trip we stayed at the Kona Bali Kai. It is great place to stay at for a contest or vacation. We didn't even have a need to leave the room, we watched the contest from our balcony. That was the best part for Michelle and I... Having the comforts home while watching a surf contest. Cant complain. Not to mention the added bonus, the sunsets are unreal!! If you ever need a place to stay on the big island, I would definitely recommend the Kona Bali Kai with the ocean view. I want to say mahalo to auntie Tammy and auntie Lynn for their Bali Kai recommendations. Can't forget the bradda's at the Da Poke Shack for hooking Devin up with da poke bowl.

Well gang you are up to date. till next time alooha.

HSA State Championships

Aloha everyone...

This week we were at Ala Moana Bowls for the HSA State Championships. All I can say is that it was a great week of surfing. All the Blue Hawaii kids surfed great and had a great time.
The highlights was that Keanu and Devin advanced to the semi's in their respective divisions. Even though they finished their day one round before the finals. Their surfing was on fire to get that far. Great Job to the both of you!!! Congrats go out to winners and Blue Hawaii kids for doing a great job. That basicly wraps up the 2010 HSA State championships. Now we need to wait and see if any of the Blue Hawaii gang gets an invite to Surfing America Nationals at lowers in June.

Keep your finger crossed

Jordan B.

Devin B.

Keanu I.

Mike I.

Da clean up Cru
