The long awaited update

Howzit....

Wow... it has been crazy lately. The last two month was filled with contest after contest. Then to top it off, we finished the HSA season with the HSA state championships. Also in between all the other contests we threw in the kick off of the NSSA season at Straight Outs. All I can say is that we have been very busy surfing. But it was a lot of fun.

With that said, here are the results from some of the contests that we participated in.

Surf into Summer:
EJ, Jordan, and Devin were the ones that enter the surf into summer contest. All three surfed really well in thier respective division and heats. But the only person to advance to the finals that day was Devin Boy. In the finals was a who's who of the groms, Kalani David, Seth Moniz, Kaulana Apo, and Devin just to name a few. With that company in the water Devin surfed to a Sixth place finish in the menehune division.

Grom Fest:
Unfortunately EJ was too old to enter and Jordan was rank to high in the HSA longboard and shortboard division to be eligible to enter. So Devin and Nicole were the only ones that was able to enter with one catch, they could only surf the long board division. The reason being they were also ranked to high in the HSA short board division. But that didn't stop them from representing the Blue Hawaii Surf cru in the water. They raised up and accepted the challenge. So much so Devin advance all the way to the finals. On the final wave of the finals Devin Boy pulled off the dead cockroach move that KAZ dare him to do. We got a good laugh from that. Even with the dead cockroach it was a close scored finals and Devin pulled out a third place finish in the nine and under longboard division.

NSSA Event number 1:
This is the beginning of a new journey. In other words this is our first season competing in the NSSA. I tell you what this is definitely another level of competition. But the kids (EJ, Jordan, and Devin) were up to it and was ready to compete. All of the boys once again surfed really well but Devin was the one that advance to the NSSA finals. He place 4th in the open mini groms.

King of the Groms:
EJ, Jordan, and Devin entered the King of the groms. But there would no kings or money winners from the Blue Cru that day.

HSA State Championships:

The States Championships was a three day event at Ala Moana Bowls. All team members (EJ, Jordan, Nicole, and Devin) qualified for states. But Nicole decided to sit this one out. So that left the boys out there to represent Blue Hawaii surf. And represent they did. Again they all surfed great but EJ had the best showing for the blue cru that day. Jordan and Devin didnt make it through their first round heats in the shortboard division. but they surfed really hard. EJ on the other hand made it to the semi's in each of his shortboard divisions (JR mens and open mens) before his day ended. EJ had an outstanding showing at the HSA state championship. As for Jordan on his longboard, he surfed to a 5th place finish in the finals. What a great finish for Jordan. Awesome Job!!

Jordan getting his hardware..

During the states championships we had some friends (J-sea and Jericho) from Kauai hanging under the blue cru tent. J-Sea surfed in the 17 and under girls and Jericho surfed in the girls longboard and open longboard. J-Sea had great a showing at states and proved she is a force to be reckoned with. Jericho also had a great showing at states. so good she advance all the way to the finals and placing 3rd. We will definitely see more of those two in the future.

To wrap states up, I also want to say, you kids rock!!! oh yeah and surfed really well also and we cant wait for next year states championships.

Blue Surf Cru at it again:)

Whats up Everybody...I know its been awhile since the last posting but its been a crazy month of surfing and parties to attend. In between all the excitement i had to find time to sleep. So here I am today to update you the latest news.

On March 22, 2009 the surf cru entered the HASA contest. The contest was schedule for Sunset but due to lack of size it was relocated to Sandy beach. Not sure if that was a good call because the conditions at sandys was terrible. The surf was a stormy 1-3 feet with some very strong winds and currents. The winds were so strong that if we would have set up the tent, we would have definitely lost it to the wind. As to the rip currents, while Nicole, Devin, and other competitors were paddling in at the end of their heat; they got stuck in the rip current that just about took them to gas chambers. That was a heart pounding moment with a happy ending. They made it to the beach but they had a long walk back to the contest area.

But with the conditions being so terrible, the surf cru made the most of it by surfing hard and having fun while doing so. What was even better they took home some hardware in the process.

HASA contest results at Sandys:

EJ
JR Mens 3rd in finals

Jordan
Boys 3rd in finals

Nicole
17 under girls 2nd in finals
Menehune 1A 4th in finals

Devin
Menehune 2A 3rd in finals
Menehune 1A 5th in finals

Volcom Surf Contest Maili Point
March 28, 2009

The boys (Jackson, EJ, Jordan, and Devin) of the Blue Hawaii surf team enter the Volcom surf contest with the hopes of earning an invite to the Volcom championships in California. Again we were greeted with conditions that were not favorable to surf in. It was 1-2 feet and very inconsistent. We were wondering if they were even going to hold it. and to our surprise they did. But thats what contest are all about. You need to be ready to go in all conditions no matter what it looks like.

The first rounds weren't that friendly the most of the surf cru. Jackson, Jordan, and Devin were eliminated in the first round in their respective divisions. As for EJ, he was on fire and it looked liked he could not be stopped. He advanced all the way to the finals with the possibility of earning an invite with a 5th place finish or better. In the finals EJ was surfing really good once again and he surfed to a 6th place finish. Man that was a close one, but he did an awesome job of surfing out there. We will wait and see if he gets that invite. Cross your fingers gang.

Well your updated with the latest.

Till next time...peace

HASA surf meet update...

HASA surf Contest was held at Haleiwa on the 14,15 of Feb 2009.

Another video for your enjoyment.

Unfortunately the conditions were not the best due to high winds, rain, bumpy surf conditions. But the surf team made the best of 2 to3 foot waves in sloppy conditions.

On the first day (Sat.) of competition EJ, Jordan, and Devin surfed in their respective divisions. They all surfed really hard. Unfortunately EJ was the only one that advanced to the finals on that day. EJ placed 4th in the open men's.

As for second and final day of competition, the conditions remained the same for the most part with the exception of some solid 4 foot waves rolling through. Jordan, Nicole, and Devin were the ones that were scheduled to surf on this day. And they had a solid showing out there in the water to say the least. Each one of them advancing through their heats. But unfortunately Nicole's day came to a end in the menehune 2a repo round. Just missing the final spot for the finals. Jordan surfed to a third place in the menehune longboard finals. As for Devin, he placed second in the menehune 2a division.

All I can say it was a another great weekend for the Blue Hawaii Surf Team. Each one of them performed great out there. Keep the stoke alive.

Talking about winds, take note Michelle, Kai, and Kala had to put on their jackets to keep warm.

Jordan looking at something or someone...

Nicole the monkey swinging on a coconut tree.

Competition is not just for the water. The winner is...

EJ hanging with some of his fans..
A special thanks goes out to Rod the cook. Kai and Kala for setting up. Eric for everything you did. Everybody else for their continued support.
Till next time,
Peace...

Ramdom Free Surf Action

Well its been a few days or weeks since the last posting. So here I am to provide you with some updates. Well there has not been that much going on as of late other than free surfing on a regular basis. The surf team has been hitting spots on the Westside mostly. But on occasions we head to the north shore to get in a session or two. Other than that the kids has been getting ready for their next surf meet by surfing, cross training (skate boarding), and just having fun. The next surf contest might be the Volcom contest or the Feb. HASA event, we will see which one will be held first.

Below are some random pictures from the past couple of weeks...

BH Surf & Skate day

To start off the New Year we brought the Blue Hawaii Family together for a surf and Skate day.

It started off in the surf at white plains. The BH tent was up, BBQ was flaming, and the sun was shinning. The perfect setting for an impromptu surf contest. So the surf contest was on, we had three rounds of surfing in ankle high surf and pitching. Everyone that enter did really well even those who (Marlin) didn't catch a wave and felt they deserved to advance. In the end the Blue Hawaii Surf team (E.J., Jordan, Devin, Nicole) took the top spots with Little Marlin and Kai a few points behind. I do want to give some props to Little Marlin who made the finals and it was his first time surfing. Great Job Little Marlin!!!

The crew that entered the contest.

After lunch and some more free surfing we headed out to the Kapolei skate park to watch the Blue Hawaii skate team do their thing in the bowls. All I know is that Karl, Dyson, Nick, Ryan, Kyle and the rest of the crew was killing it. Some mile long grinds and big airs were definitely on the menu that day.

Blue Hawaii in the House...

Dyson doing some front side 50....

Karl just destroying the bowl....

As day light fades all I can say it was another fun fill day with the Blue Hawaii Family.

No walls just friendship...

Till next time...Peace

Holiday Outing RVCA house

Over the Holidays the Blue Hawaii Crew was invited to hang out with the RVCA gang at their V-land estates. I tell you what Pat and the rest of the RVCA gang knows how to put on a BBQ. All I can say the food was off the hook. They had some live music being played by two very talented individuals. The highlight of the evening was the blue hawaii youth meeting some of top the individuals in the surf world, art scene, MMA, and music arena. All I can say is the kids had a great time. I want to say Thank You to RVCA gang and a special Thank You to Pat and his family for opening up their pad for us to hang out for the evening and treating us like family.
